Perfect Attendance

Special recognition goes to Rutha Johnson and Cynthia Masterson, two cleaners from Heidi Murdoch’s commercial division,  for not missing a single day of work all year in 2005.  This is an outstanding achievement!  Thank you, Rutha and Cynthia, for your dedication and hard work!  You both should be very proud of this great accomplishment.

Healthy Habits

Our Caterpillar customer in Pontiac, IL is sponsoring a wellness program.  Part of that program was the NASCAR Walking Program that both Caterpillar and VSI employees participated in.  The VSI team called themselves The CBS Girls and won first place.  The team consisted of Cindy Livengood, Barb Rieger and Sandi Hamilton.  The program lasted 12 weeks and, combined, the CBS Girls walked 2,283.79 miles!  Sandi Hamilton stated that she and her team members walked an average of 7-10 miles a day on their jobs as material handlers and if they didn’t, they made up their lost miles after work by walking the dog or walking with family members.  This is how they were able to win first place!  Sandi said that she and her team members have firmed up many of their muscles and that she has noticed her husband feels better since he started walking with the dog after work.  Congratulations, Cindy, Barb and Sandi on practicing and spreading good health habits!

Great Job

Heidi Murdoch, District Manager, wishes to thank her cleaner at Busey Bank, Carla McKnight, for achieving an outstanding quality assurance score of 98.23%!  Kudos as well to Heidi Murdoch.  Great job, Carla and Heidi!

Gaining Customer Respect

Bob Weiss, VSI Facility Manager at Kraft, would like to give very big “thank you” to all his employees who participated in Kraft’s Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) Campaign.  Even though they were all headed home when the customer asked for their help, they happily complied.  Bob reports that we continue to gain the customer’s respect one step at a time, and that this is a perfect example.  Way to go VSI Kraft crew, you make all the difference!

Thanks to all the employees who generously donated to the Santa 2005 Program. Donations nearly doubled last year’s total of $468, totaling $928 this year, which the company matched. All of the applicants were very deserving and the committee had a difficult time choosing recipients. In the end, we were able to bring Christmas to 11 families (with 34 kids in all) - 8 families in the Peoria area and 3 families from outlying areas. Each family received clothing and toys for their children. Thank you so much for reaching into your hearts to help others this holiday season! Special thanks to Debbie Parsley, Executive Assistant; Vicky Leinweber, Safety Director/ Employee Relations Manager; Dawn Rowe-Lafary, Human Resources Manager; and Caroline Dunbar, Hiring Manager, for their time and assistance helping purchase the gifts. A very special thanks, also, to Darlene Nelson, Commercial Lead Person, for wrapping all of the presents!
